If I’m not working, being mommy, cleaning, writing or somewhere with my nose in a book, you can bet my ears are probably being filled with the melodies and lyrics of favorite tunes new and old I’m constantly collecting on my iPod. Some songs I love because the tune is catchy or it cheers me up, some because I love the instrumentation in the song, etc. But for the most part my own little (or not so little) playlist is filled up with songs that speak into my life on a much deeper level than just catchy tunes or today’s most popular hits……although I do have my share of that too!

I’m always asking others what they are listening to and loving because people usually recommend what speaks to them in some deeper way. And so I thought I’d share some of the very most favorite of my own playlist with you. Songs I post here are the songs that tend to play on repeat some days because they speak the language of my heart or minister something extra special to my life.

Music is powerful! I’m learning more and more just how much it has the power to express the human heart and to speak life giving messages that can change us.

So right here, every Monday I invite you to listen, enjoy and maybe find a little inspiration and hope for your own life as these tunes have brought to mine! And feel free to share what’s been going in your ears lately, I love new music!

This song has been special to me for some time. So much so that I’ve been known to sit up late at my keyboard and sing and play it on my own with no one else around. AND because I saw Natalie Grant in concert over the weekend, she sang it, and I of course couldn’t hold back the tears as she so beautifully put my own heart into words through song.

Foolish heart looks like we’re here again
Same old game of plastic smile
Don’t let anybody in
Hiding my heartache, will this glass house break
How much will they take before I’m empty
Do I let it show, does anybody know?

But you see the real me
Hiding in my skin, broken from within
Unveil me completely
I’m loosening my grasp
There’s no need to mask my frailty
Cause you see the real me

Painted on, life is behind a mask
Self-inflicted circus clown
I’m tired of the song and dance
Living a charade, always on parade
What a mess I’ve made of my existence
But you love me even now
And still I see somehow

But you see the real me
Hiding in my skin, broken from within
Unveil me completely
I’m loosening my grasp
There’s no need to mask my frailty
Cause you see the real me

Wonderful, beautiful is what you see
When you look at me
You’re turning the tattered fabric of my life into
A perfect tapestry
I just wanna be me

But you see the real me
Hiding in my skin, broken from within
Unveil me completely
I’m loosening my grasp
There’s no need to mask my frailty
Cause you see the real me
And you love me just as I am
Wonderful, beautiful is what you see
When you look at me
